With the sunny weather this weekend, barqbeques come out of hibernation, the smell greeting you like a great big “hello spring”. It’s contagious, as soon as you smell someone else throwing a steak or burger on the barbeque, you always wish you were doing the same.
We love marinating our meat, poultry and fish, using ingredients we have on hand like garlic and lemon, plus fresh herbs (i.e. rosemary and dill) we grow in the summer. And one of our go-to marinades is one of the simplest, but yet one of the most flavourful:
1/3 cup olive oil
1/3 cup low sodium soya sauce
3 tbsp. ketchup
1 clove garlic, minced
Salt and pepper as needed
So as we wait with anticipation for our marinated steak tonight, which we’ll have with grilled peppers, mushrooms and zucchini, we also wait for a summer filled with many more delicious, creative, homemade marinades. ~kM
